- Trach - Complete
- Removal of the front cervical plate - Complete
- Harvest tissue and an artery or two from her forearm or potentially shoulder, then use that to patch the hole in her throat - Complete! 6:20 PM update. The plastic surgeon just called: "it went perfect, good blood flow... all looks perfect". Madison is in the recovery room. Next steps: she'll be taken to ICU where she'll remain sedated (asleep) overnight, and closely monitored
- 10/19/15: Complete: Surgery to install the g-tube "went very well and without incident". Rough night, g-tubes just suck for the fist 24 hours
- Anticipated hospital stay will be 7-10 days
- She won't be able to speak for 5-7 days, so If your phone doesn't ring, it's Madi :-)
In Pre-Op this morning we sensed a sense of dread on her part, but she didn't appear outwardly nervous. She knows she won't be able to speak, and we have a small white board so she can communicate. I'm sure she'll be barking orders via whiteboard in no time... and we look forward to catering to her every whim 24x7
...and in closing
Thank you for your concern, prayers, positive energy, and well wishes.
